An ordinary email address or phone-like sequence may be masked, while a person’s name, rare identifier or address in prose may remain unchanged. Compare the result line by line and inspect the surrounding context: “the only employee on the night shift” can identify someone without a direct contact field. Pattern matches can also mask innocent numbers, such as an order code, so confirm that the resulting excerpt remains useful. If a value survives, redact it manually in the review copy rather than claiming the pattern is a complete privacy guarantee. Keep the source separately and avoid copying sensitive originals into a public issue or chat by mistake. This output is transformed text, not encryption; anyone who receives it can read what remains. Review the entire excerpt before sharing.
